I am a native San Antonian and attended Robert E. Lee High School (International School of the Americas). After graduation, I attended The University of Texas at Austin for both my Bachelors and Masters degree at the UT School of Social Work.
After graduation, I earned my license to practice and worked at the UTSA Counseling Center with a diverse client population. I have extensive experience in working with depression, anxiety, family of origin issues, issues specific to women, and the balancing of busy lifestyles.
My theoretical framework is humanistic and psychodynamic, which both place emphasis on exploration of the individual’s history and family of origin as a way to find insight into unhealthy patterns.
Being a social worker helps me to focus on the client as a whole, and therefore I cannot say that I specialize in one specific area of counseling. My thought is that each client is unique in his/her presentation, and therefore each client deserves a tailor-made counseling approach.
My interests outside of counseling include volunteering for philanthropic community organizations and socializing with friends. I enjoy exercising and try my hardest to subscribe to a healthy lifestyle, although I do enjoy my chips and queso every so often.
Mostly though, I am a human being just as you are, and I sincerely hope that whether you choose to work with me or with another therapist that you reach your therapeutic goals.
